Shaeer’s Corporal Rotation Correction of penile curvature without shortening

Shaeer’s Corporal Rotation (SCR) corrects penile curvature by rotating the two erectile bodies (corpora cavernosa) in opposite directions, neutralizing curvature while minimizing loss of length. This in opposition to  traditional plication techniques which sacrifice length. Developed and continuously refined by Prof. Osama Shaeer, SCR has published outcomes across multiple iterations (SCR‑I to SCR-III, and most recently,  SCR‑IV). Shaeer’s Corporal Rotation has been internationally recognized and respected surgical technique for years.

How to treat penile curvature ?

Treatment of penile curvature is mostly surgical, if the degree and direction of penile curvature demand it.

The classic shortening techniques for correction of penile deviation are based on shortening the longer side of the penis to match the shorter side. This corrects penile curvature, though with loss in the length of the penis.

Shaeer’s Corporal Rotation / Rotation of the corpora cavernosa – is based on counter rotation, thereby correcting a curved penis without shortening.

Rotation of the corpora cavernosa is reserved for congenital penile curvature, in a downward direction (ventral penile curvature).

If the penis curves sideways, this is corrected by shortening techniques.

If penile curvature is associated with erectile dysfunction, then a penile implant surgery with adjuvant techniques may be required.

Advantages of Shaeer's Corporal Rotation

  • High success rate restoring straight ererction.
  • No or minimal loss in length.
  • Low recurrence rate (5-10%), similar to shortening techniques.
  • One-day surgery.

Disadvantages of Shaeer's Corporal Rotation

  • As with other techniques for penile curvature including shortening techniques, mild bruising, infection, or  temporary sensory changes may occur, though rare.
  • As with other techniques for penile curvature, residual/recurrent curvature is possible but uncommon (5-10%) in experienced hands.
  • Minimal to moderate narrowing is possible.

Who is a candidate for Corporal Rotation?

  • Men with function‑limiting congenital curvature (often 30–90° ventral).
  • Patients with adequate erectile function and desire to preserve length.
  • Congenital Penile Curvature (becomes noticeable after puberty)
  • Stable penile curvature (not worsening) after medical evaluation and counseling on alternatives.
  • No hypospadias (urine outlet at the tip, not on the undersurface of the penis)

Published outcomes at a glance

Reported correction of severe ventral curvature (up to ~90°) with no significant loss of length and preserved erectile function.

Retrospective series of 127 patients with 25–90° ventral curvature treated at Kamal Shaeer Hospital; shortening‑free correction with high straightening rates.

Further refinements (length & girth preservation focus). Reported little or no compromise in length, girth, or sensitivity in moderate–severe curvature.

Recovery & aftercare following Shaeer's Corporal Rotation

  • One Day Surgery: Outpatient or overnight stay depending on case and local protocols.
  • Mild swelling/soreness for several days to weeks.
  • Can fly back home within 2 days. Follow‑up visits at 1–2 weeks, ~1 month, and 3 months preferred.
  • Return to sexual activity is individualized; mostly in 2-3 months.

Frequently asked questions for Shaeer's corporal rotation

  • Yes—Shaeer’s Corporal Rotation (SCR) was designed for congenital curvature (ventral) and has been validated across multiple publications, including SCR‑III and SCR‑IV.
Shaeer’s Corporal Rotation has been tested for years and proven in congenital curvature. It may be applicable in selected cases of Peyronie’s Disease, provided there is no hour-glass deformity and that erectile function is normal.

SCR aims to preserve length compared with plication which shortens the longer side. Published data report little to no length loss with SCR‑III/IV.

As with other surgical techniques for correction of penile curvature, bruising, infection, temporary sensory changes, or residual/recurrent curvature are possible but uncommon in experienced hands. Minimal to moderate narrowing is also possible.

Typically under 60–90 minutes depending on anatomy and whether combined procedures are needed.

As with other penile curvature techniques, minor change in sensitivity is possible, returns back to normal within a few weeks to months.

The incisions is discreet along the circumcisoin line .

Circumcision is preferred along with most techniques for penile curvature, whether shortening techniques or corporal rotation.
